Color-shift Test
TN+Film and MVA/PVA panels have a so called “color-shift” problem resulting in tonal contrast distortion depending on viewing angle.
When a user looks straight he might see color-balanced image.
But when the users looks from left or right side he may see distorted color range.
This test helps to exactly identify high quality S-IPS and A-FFS panels (compatible with Chrome, FireFox, Opera and IE navigators).
Firstly, move your head to a straight position against the monitor (the distance of your eyes to the monitor should be larger than it's diagonal size).
Then make the colors of all 6 boxes to be as identicalas possible by pressing “+” or “” buttons.
When boxes appear as big solid gray squares, just take a look from a the left and right side, and then—from top and bottom.
If you notice boxes start to change their color and to dissolve onto separate rectangles (see illustration below), this definitely indicates you are testing TN+Film, MVA/PVA or some old kind of IPS panel.
Example of color-shift
Note: a lot of tasks, which require special color accuracy, are not compatible with “color-shift” issues.
